UTTARAKHAND SEES BJP-CONG COMPETITION OVER FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Rahil Nora Chopra :
Both the parties, BJP and Congress, in Uttarakhand are busy in showing that they are more concerned towards the poor and needy. In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, BJP has started Modi Rasoi and distribution of food packets in the state. Taking a cue, Congress has also started the distribution of foods in the name of Sonia Rasoi, subsequently picked up by theYouth Congress, which has begun food distribution calling it the “Rahul Food Kit”. Soon after, senior Congress leader Satpal Brahmachari has also started langar in front of his ashram Radha Krishna Dham for providing food for the poor and migrant workers. The Uttarakhand administration has ordered Satpal Brahmachari to close down the langar. Mahant Ravindra Puri of Niranjni Akhara has started distribution of food for the needy and also donated 69 lakhs of rupees to the chief minister’s fund. In Uttarakhand, it seems that there is a competition going on in the name of food distribution by both the parties.
